South Caledon Soccer Club (Town of Caledon Affiliate)
www.southcaledonsoccerclub.ca
South Caledon Soccer Club is a proud, local and community based house league soccer organization established in 2011. Facilitated by a core of hard-working and dedicated volunteers, the Club offers an introduction to recreational team sport for children ages 3 14. Located in the Town of Caledon, within the community of Valleywood, we serve the many neighbourhoods that make up the fabric of Caledon. These include: Valleywood, Southfields, Caledon Anthem, Mayfield West, Cheltenham, Terra Cotta and Inglewood. All games in our league take place in Valleywood, centrally located on the Brampton / Caledon, border just north of Mayfield Rd. and Highways #410 / 10. Many of our neighbours from Brampton also join us. SCSC has its roots in the stubborn search, by a group of local mothers, for a locally based sports program. Initially fostered by the Bolton Wanderers Soccer Club, we grew from these humble beginnings, under Nancy Pickard and later Lina Marino, (for whom the Park is named) from an enrollment of just 300 children to over 750 today. A core group of volunteers remain true to Linas vision, one she devoted a tremendous amount of time and energy to: the promotion of a family-friendly, house league, community run, soccer program. We are dedicated to providing best in class service to our community while maintaining the highest commitment to the principles of the game: fair-play, teamwork and friendly, healthy competition At South Caledon Soccer we don't just play soccer! We like to think of ourselves as "For the community - By the community!" The SCSC has a long tradition of working together with the local community to support and raise funds for the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. Beginning over 10 years ago, South Caledon Soccer Club began raising money, together with one of our principal sponsors, Fortinos Mountainash, in honour of our President, Lina Marino. Lina lost her battle with cancer during the soccer season of 2005. Lina
