Caledon Heritage Foundation
Caledon Heritage Foundation (CHF) was created in March 2006 as a not for profit corporation whose mandate is to restore, develop and preserve heritage property either owned by the Foundation, by a qualified donor, or by the Town of Caledon for the benefit of the Caledon Community. In 2011 we were granted status as a registered charitable organization by the Canada Revenue Agency. The Foundation’s work includes informing the public by providing educational opportunities on heritage conservation subjects and any other activities which will advance the cause of heritage conservation within Caledon. CHF is managed by a volunteer Board of Directors with a diverse range of talents. The Foundation works closely with both the Town of Caledon, it's Heritage Resource Officer, as well as the Municipal heritage committee, Heritage Caledon. Our current focus is on the development of a web site which will allow residents to have their historical stories, photographs, documents recorded digitally for easy access by future generations. It will also explain the rich cultural heritage of Caledon. We are looking for volunteers with a passion for heritage and with some level of expertise or experience in cultural heritage research, conversion of historical material to a digital format, web site development, oral history interviews, community outreach, organisational administration, social media, or other relevant areas of interest. Our board members, who must reside within the Town of Caledon, attend an evening meeting held monthly. Volunteers need not be board members, but should be residents of Caledon, and can join a sub-committee, led by a board member, which meets at any time convenient to its members.
