Peel Learning Foundation
1 in 5 students attending school in the Peel Region faces issues related to poverty that prevent them from fully participating in school. Many students come to school hungry because there’s no food at home. Others lack basic necessities like winter clothing or school supplies. Students also face difficult challenges in the home environment where a parent or guardian has lost a job or there’s an emergency situation that requires a compassionate response. The Peel Learning Foundation’s mission is to enable Peel District School Boards’ students to achieve personal excellence by providing resources that help them overcome barriers. Our goal is to raise funds to level the playing field and help students do more and achieve more. We support students in the communities of Brampton, Caledon and Mississauga through all ages and stages of their time in Peel schools - from kindergarten to grade 12, and in continuing and adult education programs. This can be as simple as providing funds to purchase a warm winter coat, supporting a school breakfast program or providing funds for instruments or athletic equipment. We raise funds to: • support school nutrition programs • provide school supplies and winter clothing • offer student emergency needs funding, and • provide educational and school grants.
