The Mississauga Humane Society is a small animal welfare organization located in Mississauga, Ontario. What makes us special is that we do not operate a “brick and mortar” facility but rely completely on our network of volunteers, foster families, service relationships and the kindness of sponsors and donors. What this means is that all monies received goes directly to the animals in our care with our largest expenditures being veterinary services.
Since receiving charity designation in 1999, we are gratified in knowing we have rescued and rehomed thousands of animals in need. Our priority continues to be the health and welfare of the animals in our community and to be their advocate in matters of public policy. We also believe in building reciprocal relationships with other local and international organizations and when warranted, extend our hand to those shelters in crisis due to flood, fire or overcrowding.
In full disclosure, MHS has recently gone through a change in our Board of Directors that has invigorated us all. We have many fundraising events planned over the next year that will both inform and engage our community once again and to let them know that we are back and better than ever.
