World Masters Athletic Championships 2020 (Toronto)

This group was organized to help with the bid process and planning to bring the 2020 World Masters Athletics to Toronto. WMA is an organization that promotes friendly competition in track and field for athletes around the world over the age of 35. The competition is divided into 5 year age categories, with both men and women competing in track and field events within a stadium and the non stadia events cross country, road races and race walking.
The first outdoor WMA Championship was here in Toronto in 1975, and it has been held all over the world, Spain,. France, Australia and returning for the 45th championship where it all got started.
This event is over 11 days of competition at multiple venues including Terry Fox Stadium here in Brampton, Varsity Stadium University of Toronto, Toronto Track and Field Center York University, the beaches waterfront, Centennial Park Etobicoke. There will be as many as 100 countries represented and upwards of 5000 athletes coming to compete.
