Status and Action Plan

Like you, Volunteer MBC has been closely monitoring the coronavirus COVID-19 situation. As an organization, the following precautionary steps have been taken to ensure the continuity of our services, encourage public safety and the wellbeing of our clients, volunteers and staff during this period. We will update this page as more info becomes available.

Offices closed

Volunteer MBC offices are closed until further notice. If you have called us and left a voicemail, this will be checked periodically, but we prefer you connect with us by email. Thank you for your patience.

Meetings & Events

V-Oscars

The 2020 V-Oscars Volunteer Recognition Awards Gala that was scheduled for April 23, 2020, has been postponed to Thursday, September 17, 2020.

For our member organizations, the deadline to submit Nominations has been extended to July 17, 2020.

Annual General Meeting

Our AGM scheduled for May 19, 2020 will proceed, but depending on the situation at that time, may be held by teleconference.

Workshops and Learning

Workshops and in-person learning programs offered by the Volunteer MBC Learning Centre will be postponed or delivered virtually. Registrants will be notified of changes by email. This includes sessions of the Volunteer Leaders in Peel Network, which will be held by teleconference.

Community Programs and other Meetings

All Volunteer MBC community programs, events and meetings with more than 10 participants will be postponed or moved to a virtual setting where possible.

Volunteer Referral Service and Assisted Search

Though our offices are closed, if you are seeking the right volunteer opportunity for you, our Referral Team is still here for you! We provide service online, and you can reach us by email. Please note that as our Member Organizations also monitor the situation and implement their own response, they may require more time to respond to volunteer applicants or to modify their volunteer positions accordingly.
