Volunteerism is a river that flows through our entire community. We recognize incredible volunteers by sharing their stories; stories of hope, adversity, friendship and love. These are stories that inspire others into action and give our lives meaning. We tell these stories using mixed media including blogs, video, Do you know about a story of an outstanding volunteer, an act of caring or an organization that is stepping up? Volunteer MBC Member Organizations nominate volunteers for our Awards Program. Typically there are two nomination periods; in the fall nominations are submitted for their own Volunteer of the Year, and then our Judging Committee selects the Volunteer of the Year for each of Mississauga, Brampton and Caledon and they are recognized at the Peel Cares Celebration on International Volunteer Day.
In the winter, nominations open for The V-Oscars, the premier volunteer recognition event in the region! Volunteer MBC member organizations nominate outstanding volunteers who are invited to a swanky gala in their honour.
