Step up. Give back. Be part of an iconic GTA fundraising event!

This year marks the 45th anniversary of United Way ClimbUP — United Way Greater Toronto’s signature fundraising event at the CN Tower!

As climbers tackle the 1,776 steps to raise funds for local communities, we’ll need 500 amazing volunteers to help bring the event to life.

Join us for one day or both — and be part of something unforgettable. When you volunteer at ClimbUP, you help fight local poverty, build stronger neighbourhoods and create lasting impact for everyone in the GTA.

There are shifts available at both the Metro Toronto Convention Centre (MTCC) and the CN Tower, and you can volunteer for one day or both. Volunteers must be at least 13 years old. There are some great roles still up for grabs: 

• Line Monitor
• Wristban Runners
• Coat Check
• Climb Ambassador
• Tower Cheer Squad - Top of Tower
• Welcome Greeter - Base of Tower

Before registering, please note the following:

• Time – Most volunteer shifts begin at 5 AM and it is extremely important that volunteers arrive on time. If you do not feel that you can truly commit to arriving by 5 AM, please do not sign up for these positions. We ask all volunteers to remain in their positions for the full shift unless otherwise directed by a Team Lead and/or Event Lead
• Transportation – Please consider your transportation options to the site before you sign up for a position. On weekends, the TTC subway system is not in service until 6AM on Saturdays and 8AM on Sundays. This can make getting downtown more difficult. However, the Blue Night Network routes is the overnight TTC service and operates on most major routes from approximately 1:30 AM to the start of subway service. Plan your route in advance to help make sure you have a smooth arrival!
• Paid public parking lots are conveniently located near MTCC. The entrance to the North Building parking garage is on Lower Simcoe Street, just south of Front Street West and slightly north of Bremner Boulevard.
• Volunteers must be at least 13 years of age. Volunteers aged from 13 to 15 must volunteer with a parent or guardian. All volunteers must sign a waiver. Volunteers under 18 years of age must have a guardian/parent sign a waiver and submit it at the Volunteer Check-in on event day. The volunteer waiver is included in the online application.

• CN Tower volunteers –  Tuesday, November 4 from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.


• MTCC volunteers – Wednesday, November 5 from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.
