2657 - Become an 'On-Call Community CPR & AED Responder' with Peel Regional Paramedic Services! > Apply NOW!
Organization:
Position Address:
This program serves visitors and residents of the Region of Peel in Brampton, Mississauga and Caledon. Volunteers will only be notified of cardiac emergencies in their local vicinity.
Location:
Mississauga, Brampton, Caledon

Goal

Every Second Counts! The Region of Peel, with Brampton, Caledon, Mississauga, and the Greater Toronto Airport Authority (GTAA), have placed hundreds of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) in public places for anyone to use at any time. Every AED gives each member of the community the opportunity to save a life. Our volunteer On-Call Community CPR & AED Responders complement Peel Regional Paramedic Services' response by providing VITAL, EARLY ACCESS to CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) and an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) during a cardiac arrest prior to arrival by 'EMS' paramedics. This is an immensely important volunteer 'role' that can SAVE A LIFE IN YOUR COMMUNITY!

Description

Volunteers will be notified of cardiac emergencies via a mobile phone app and will give help during a cardiac arrest until 'EMS' paramedics arrive. You also will act as an ambassador for our 'EMS' paramedics' community resuscitation initiatives, PLUS help maintain, inspect, and update the Peel AED registration database (as a Region, we maintain an AED registry database, which keeps track of every private and public AED in Peel. This database is important because it enables 9-1-1 operators to advise individuals on the scene where they can access an AED, helping make Peel a safer 'cardiac region').

THE SUCCESS of our 'On-Call Community CPR & AED Responders' program DEPENDS ON YOU!

Fill out an online volunteer application form on Region of Peel's Health Service's Volunteering website page (Health volunteer opportunities - peelregion.ca

After submitting the APPLICATION FORM, please monitor your email (incl. 'Junk/Spam' folders) for communications from the Region of Peel. Thank you!
