GoalVON Canada is a national, not-for-profit, charitable home and community care organization. For more than 115 years, our nurses, therapists and other health care providers have cared for Canadians in their own homes. Today, we offer more than 75 home care, personal support, and community services designed to help people of all ages to get healthy and stay healthy. Our team of more than 5,000 staff and 9,000 volunteers serves Canadians in more than 1,200 communities across our country.Especially during COVID-19, our Meals on Wheels program has taken on particular importance. To support it, we need to fill a Volunteer Cleaner volunteering role, which will ensure that the equipment used to carry the food that we deliver (cold & hot) as part of Meals on Wheels is properly cleaned and sanatized, then accounted for and organized to receive food for further deliveries. This role is a critical 'link' in the chain that will contribute towards sustaining the health of VON clients. During COVID-19, strict health & safety procedures will be followed at the food depot (see Map, below), plus the VON abides by 'contactless delivery' during COVID-19. |

DescriptionThe VON has been operating successful Meals on Wheels programs for many years, and we have never forgotten that the success of delivery of quality food to those who cannot get out to shop or cannot cook for themselves is largely due to a true team of capable, dedicated volunteers. Each volunteer enjoys a 'role' that supports the team and is vital to the program. A key 'link in the chain' are our Volunteer Cleaners (Food Transport Carriers & Equipment). Here's a brief overview of what you can expect upon taking up this role:
