Goal

The Region of Peel serves over 1.5 million residents in Mississauga, Brampton, Caledon. We deliver a wide range of resident-focused services across the Region. As part of Region of Peel's Public Health services, the Communicable Disease Division and Vaccine Preventable Diseases staff members provide vaccinations to community members. We're currently looking for volunteers who live in or close to Caledon/Bolton to assist staff as a Vaccination Clinic Volunteer.Volunteers provide valuable support to the Region of Peel in the delivery of vaccination clinics. Volunteers help augment the Health System's capacity, while gaining valuable skills and personal development in the process.The Region of Peel takes great pride in the efforts of all volunteers for their commitment to provide this valuable, essential support. 


Description

Volunteers provide valuable support to our community vaccination clinics by:

  • Meet with the Clinic Coordinator at the beginning of each shift
  • Greet the public/clients in a pleasant manner
  • Direct clients to staff if and when questions arise beyond the scope of the volunteer role
  • Provide on-site nursing staff with non-injection supplies as required
  • Assist with line ups by directing clients to next available nurse for vaccinations
  • Guide and direct clients through clinic

Qualifications

  • Minimum Age - 16 (Parent/Guardian consent required for volunteers under 18)
  • Physical ability to perform tasks associated with position (ie. able to stand/walk around for extended periods of time during 4 hour volunteer shift)
  • 2 References required
  • Interest in helping one's local community 
  • Interest in/awareness of Public Health is an asset
  • Excellent listening and interpersonal skills
  • Solid oral English skills (additional languages welcome)
  • Self-directed and able to multitask and prioritize within a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent time management, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Able to follow the Program's policies and procedures strictly (including privacy/confidentiality)
  • Able to volunteer as part of a team
  • Organized, reliable, consistent in keeping to schedules/commitments

Time Commitment
This is a Medium Term (4 - 6 months) commitment
Shifts are available Anytime

FLEXIBLE: You will be able to sign yourself up for shifts as per your availability OVERALL: Medium Term (between 3 to 6 months) requested
