Goal

Volunteer MBC (Mississauga, Brampton, Caledon) is the volunteer centre for Peel Region. We match Peel residents who desire to volunteer to meaningful volunteering opportunities. Do you enjoy meeting new people and helping them find ways to get involved in their community? Then, look no further and join our team as a Community Outreach Ambassador! At Volunteer MBC, one of our primary goals is to help connect people who want to volunteer with community service organizations that are looking for volunteers. This role is vital in making that happen as part of promoting volunteerism in Peel.


Description

As a Community Outreach Ambassador, you will represent Volunteer MBC at various events in the community. You will participate in events such as visiting high schools, community centers and community partner organizations. These community event opportunities will be in person and virtually. Virtual events will take place using Microsoft teams.

  • Our Community Outreach Ambassador inspires people to become engaged and, in doing so, helps them understand Volunteer MBC's vision and mission. 
  • Being a voice for volunteerism in our communities through your presence at community events and public venues 
  • Responding to community outreach requests made to Volunteer MBC, or involvement in outreaches initiated by us
  • Direct support for displays at specific locations throughout Peel Region (Mississauga, Brampton, Caledon)
  • Opportunity to present an overview of Volunteer MBC plus the importance of volunteering to various groups (youth, older adults, newcomers, etc.)

Qualifications

  • A strong passion for volunteering
  • Good organizational  and public speaking skills 
  • Daytime availability and occasional evening/weekends
  • Strong oral and written communication skills 
  • Comfortable in doing presentations and attending online forums.
  • Friendly, enjoys networking and meeting new people.

Time Commitment
This is a Long Term (More than 6 months) commitment
Shifts are available Anytime

This volunteer role requires a minimum commitment of 6 months. The volunteer must have a flexible schedule to be able to attend events off-site and be able to assist with display development/preparation during office hours. Most requests are during the week day with occasional evenings and weekends. Some events are virtual events as well.


Training

Orientation; Scheduled training; Training about setting up our displays, distributing promotional material, and engaging the public will be provided.
