Goal

AYSP's Family Engagement Committee is excited to announce that we are now recruiting parents & caregivers to join our committee.

We are currently seeking to partner with parents/caregivers residing in Peel/Halton/Dufferin to share their voices and support continuous program improvement, accessibility, and inclusivity.

Description

As a volunteer member on AYSP's Family Engagement Committee, you will: 

  • Attend all meetings, sharing insights, and actively participating in discussions about agency operations and procedures 

  • Provide feedback on current programs and practices, and suggest new ideas to better serve our clients and their families 

  • Contribute ideas for creative and unique projects that best represent the voices and perspectives of parents & caregivers within the community 

  • Engage with fellow Family Engagement Committee members and AYSP staff  

  • Act as Family Engagement representatives for AYSP within the community, promoting the agency’s mission, values, and programs. 

  • Uphold AYSP’s policies and procedures, maintaining confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions and activities.

By joining AYSP's Family Engagement Committee, parents and caregivers will have the opportunity to actively contribute to the betterment of children and youth mental health programs and services while representing the diverse voices and perspectives of their community.

Family Engagement Volunteers will also:

  • Gain experience in committee work within mental health spaces, enhancing leadership and communication skills.

  • Connect with fellow committee members and AYSP staff, building valuable relationships within the community and stakeholders in community service provision. 

  • Contribute to creative projects and initiatives that reflect parent/caregiver perspectives within community services, fostering personal growth and the guarantee that they are making a positive difference within vulnerable populations. 

  • Have the chance to use their stories and experiences with mental health and youth justice services to help others, while being provided with opportunities to share their own testimonies on their own accord. 


Qualifications

We are looking for individuals who meet these requirements: 

  • Identifies as parent/caregiver  

  • Must reside in Peel/Halton/Dufferin 

  • Able to attend meetings on a quarterly basis at a minimum, with more frequent meetings as needed 

  • Able to commit to the committee for at least 1 year  

  • Able to meet both in-person and virtually 

  • Able to attend a Meet and Greet session before joining the committee 

  • Able to participate in a Family Engagement Volunteer Orientation & Training

This is a Long Term (More than 6 months) commitment starting 2024-06-03
Shifts are available Anytime

Training

All Family Engagement Volunteers will be asked to complete a mandatory AYSP volunteer orientation & training. This training can be held online or in-person at the AYSP office (160 Traders Blvd E., Suite 100, Mississauga, ON L4Z 3K7). The training will be approximately 3 hours.
