Goal

Start2Finish provides access to enrichment literacy and well-being supports to marginalized elementary school-aged children living in poverty/deprivation within Canada.

Join our team of dedicated volunteers and play a vital role in encouraging students to create positive changes physically, mentally, and emotionally through fitness and literacy.


Description

As a Program Leader for the Running & Reading Club, you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the activities of the club, ensuring that the program runs smoothly and effectively meets its goals. Primary duties and responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the team in to effectively implement program activities
  • Provide leadership and Supervision
  • Program monitoring to ensure goals are met
  • Communication and Coordination supported by Start2Finish head office
  • Ensure program safety and organization policy compliance

Volunteer locations are:

  • St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Elementary, 2350 Hurontario St, Mississauga, ON L5B 1N1 
  • St. Raymond Elementary School, 5735 Whitehorn Ave, Mississauga, ON L5V 2A9
  • St. Valentine Elementary School, 5610 Heatherleigh Ave, Mississauga, ON L5V 2V7
  • St. Alfred Separate School, 3341 Havenwood Dr, Mississauga, ON L4X 2M2

Qualifications

  • Previous Experience Working with Children
  • Strong Leadership Abilities: Capable of leading and motivating a team of volunteers and engaging with students effectively.
  • Team Management: Proven ability to supervise and support volunteer
  • Excellent Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with students, parents, volunteers, and school staff.
  • Organizational skills: To manage schedules, resources, and program logistics.
  • Time Management: Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently to ensure the smooth operation of the program.

Time Commitment
This is a Medium Term (4 - 6 months) commitment starting 2024-10-02 AND ending 2025-05-28
Shifts are available on the following days
 - Tuesday Afternoon, Wednesday Afternoon, Thursday Afternoon

  • St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Elementary, Thursdays 3:30-5:30pm
  • St. Raymond Elementary School, 5735 Whitehorn Ave, Wednesdays 3:00-5:00pm
  • St. Valentine Elementary School, 5610 Heatherleigh Ave, Tuesdays 3:00-5:00pm
  • St. Alfred Separate School, 3341 Havenwood Dr, Wednesdays 3:15-5:15pm

(In addition there is 20-30 minutes program prep review the weekly session activities, and arrival 10 minutes before the shift and 15 minutes after the program for dismissal and clean up)


Training

Orientation about Start2Finish and training for the volunteer position will be provided.
