Goal

Leash-Free Mississauga (LFM) is a non-profit organization passionate about supporting safe, friendly, and fun Leash-Park Zones in Mississauga. As an established member-driven, volunteer-run group of residents, the organization works closely with the community and the City of Mississauga (Parks, Animal Services, and By-Law), where responsible dog ownership is encouraged. We do this by advocating for additional Leash-Free parks and improvements to existing parks and undertaking public education, events, Leash-Free Park clean-ups, memberships, and fundraising initiatives.


Description

As a fundraiser serving on LFM’s Board of directors, you will be critical in ensuring the organization has the necessary funds and resources to support its mission and activities.  You will develop and implement effective fundraising strategies, build relationships with donors and funders, organize fundraising events and campaigns and provide fundraising training and support to Board members, staff and volunteers as needed.

  • Develop and implement fundraising strategies and annual plans.
  • Identify potential donors and funding sources.
  • Build and maintain relationships with donors and funders
  • Organize fundraising activities and campaigns
  • Ensure compliance with fundraising regulations. 
  • Manage database and administration functions related to fund development activities.
  • Work collaboratively with Board members to develop and support the organization's mission, goals, and financial and strategic direction.

    Qualifications

    1. Good oral presentation and written communication skills (donor solicitations)
    2. Previous experience fundraising and working with a non-profit community organization;
    3. Experience in public relations, communications, events and marketing initiatives;
    4. Experience and skills in building strong relationships with stakeholders, partners, volunteers and Board members
    5. Organizational and project planning skills with sound budget and report writing skills;
    6. Supports the vision and mandate of LFM and is excited about contributing to organizational sustainability and resiliency.

    Time Commitment
    This is a Long Term (More than 6 months) commitment starting 2025-03-31 AND ending 2026-12-31
    Shifts are available Anytime

    The Board of Directors meets remotely on the first Wednesday evening of the month from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. The annual general meeting is held in person in November each year. Some events and activities are held in Leash-Free Park Zones throughout the year.
