Volunteer with Us for a Great Cause!

Every year, during the third week of February, in the heart of a Canadian winter, thousands of people come together to give back to local charities. This national fundraising campaign takes place in over 200 locations across Canada, all on the same night. The Dam was proud to be the first charity in Mississauga to participate in this event.

The funds raised by generous Mississaugans (and even some from beyond our city) are essential to keeping our doors open. Last year alone, 3,000 youth visited our locations, with a daily average of 170! The Dam is making a significant impact on the lives of local youth, with 92% reporting a positive effect on their lives. This is especially meaningful when you consider that 43% of these youth self-report struggling with mental health, with an additional 16% having a medical diagnosis.

We need your help! This event wouldn't be possible without the support of volunteers. We’re looking for people to greet and cheer on participants and help create a positive atmosphere for all the dedicated fundraisers.

You may be outside for all or part of the event. The reason this event takes place in winter is to give participants a glimpse of what it feels like to live without a roof over your head. It's a small way to build empathy, so yes, the cold is part of the experience! DRESS WARMLY!

• Training will be provided in person on event day.


• Volunteer positions will be assigned based on specific roles, and we’ll make sure you’re fully prepared!


• Safety vests and any necessary equipment, including signs, will be supplied on the day of the event.
