|
Organization: |
Location: Mississauga |
|
Goal Goal Volunteers are integral to the success of our organization. We would be unable to provide the services and supports our communities rely on without the valuable input of volunteers. A Community Brokers and Resident Volunteer will be focused on our Erinmills/Mississauga area to work with newcomer community members on social engagement activities and shared learning in ways that include newcomers to Canada. Through activities, community engagement and outreach, information sessions, etc. the Community Brokers and Resident Volunteer will help build pathways for newcomers to learn of the social, natural and services available to them; and connect them to the community’s informal assets, strengths and available supports. Volunteers will have the opportunity to give back to their community and gain a sense of satisfaction in doing so. We also welcome high school students who will have the opportunity to gain their community service hours. We have volunteer opportunities in the following areas: - Community outreach events and information booths
- Local neighbourhoodlevel events; planning and delivering activities
- Indigenous history and cultural competency
- Contribute to evaluation and knowledge sharing with staff coordinators
