City of Brampton is hosting Dearbourne Park Pollinator Habitat Stewardship and Planting Event on September 18, thursday

Date: Thursday, September 18th, 2025

Time:  5:30 – 7:30 pm

Details: Come and support the pollinator habitat and earn some volunteer hours at our Stewardship Event.  Learn about native plants, invasive species and have fun getting your hands dirty while we weed, mulch and plant new native pollinator species in Phase two of the habitat.   Snack, drinks and all tools will be provided.   Families welcome.

  • Wear long pants with socks that can be tucked in. This area is naturalizing and insects are present.
  • Waivers will be signed on the day of the event

Description

Join us for a community stewardship event at the Dearbourne Park Pollinator Habitat.

This in-person event will take place on Thursday, September 18th, 2025 from 5:30 pm-7:30pm (Eastern Daylight Time).

Bring your family and friends to help us maintain this vibrant and welcoming space for our local pollinators. Phase one and two were fully planted through two past events and is need of maintenance to ensure that the native species will continue to thrive!

  •  If your school requires volunteer hours, these events are a great way to earn them.
  • Snacks and water will be provided.


Qualifications

Location:  Dearbourne Park Pollinator Habitat

Whether you're a seasoned gardener or just starting out, everyone is welcome to participate in this hands-on experience.

We will be focusing on the following tasks:

  • Removing early weeds and grass from the Phase 2
  • identifying and marking the newly planted native species within the garden
  • mulching around the border and within the seating area 
  • mulching around the plants.
  • There will be tools available to borrow but bringing your own is welcome.

Please wear closed-toe shoes and long pants as this area is naturalising and home to many insects.

Volunteer Hours are available for high-school students.
