Goal

Calling all environmentally conscious students in grades 9-12!  Are you interested in gaining leadership and event planning skills while making a meaningful impact on your local environment?

The Peel Environmental Youth Alliance is looking for new members for its Executive Committee! As a member of the Executive Committee, you will:

  • Gain leadership skills
  • Work with fellow Executive Committee members to plan, host and facilitate monthly workshops and large-scale events.
  • Developing key skills related to event-planning, fundraising, social media and community building
  • Attend regular virtual meetings
  • Explore your interest in environmentalism and meet like-minded peer while earning volunteer hours

Your role will take place from October 2025 to June 2026.The Executive Committee Retreat will be held at the Ecosource Community Hub on Wednesday, October 15, 4:30-8:00pm Virtual meetings will be held on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of every month from 4pm - 4:30pm . PEYA workshops and events will mostly take place in Mississauga and are tentatively scheduled for the following dates:  

  • October 23rd - 4:30-6:30pm 
  • November 20th -4:30-6:30pm 
  • December 18th - 4:30-6:30pm 
  • January 22nd - 4:30-6:30pm 
  • February 19th - 4:30-6:30pm 
  • March 26th - 4:30-6:30pm 
  • April TBD
  • May TBD 
  • June TBD

Description

PEYA is a regional network of action-oriented students in Peel concerned about environmental issues and determined to make positive change! PEYA’s work is propelled by a youth steering committee of students from grades 9 through 12 across Peel working to improve the environment in their schools and neighborhoods through monthly events as well as through online platforms. PEYA also organizes large-scale events for students, including our annual EcoBuzz Conference and Amazing Green Race.

Being part of the PEYA Executive Committee is a fantastic opportunity for you to gain leadership and teamwork skills, explore your interests in environmentalism, and meet like-minded students.

Executive Committee members will have a chance to receive a gift card for their participation in meetings and events: $35 for participating in at least 12/18 meetings $40 for participating in at least 6/9 events .


Qualifications

To join the PEYA Executive Committee, you must be a student in grades 9-12 in Peel Region (Mississauga, Brampton, Caledon) 

 

Virtual meetings will be held on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of every month from 4pm - 4:30pm . 

PEYA workshops and events will mostly take place in Mississauga and are tentatively scheduled for the following dates:

An email will be sent to accepted applicants at the end of September, which includes links to orientation materials.
