Your leadership and commitment play a vital role in advancing our mission and ensuring the long‑term sustainability of the programs and services delivered by Indus Community Services. As a Board Member, you are entrusted with governance oversight, strategic guidance, and community advocacy that help strengthen our impact across Peel Region. Description

The Board of Indus Foundation is made up of dedicated volunteers who are committed to supporting the needs of the communities we serve. It is comprised of visionary individuals from all backgrounds who contribute to our vision, mission and strategic plan of Indus Community Services.

The board is a governance board and provides leadership and oversees the fundraising initiatives of the organization. The board does not manage the day-to-day operations of the organization. Directors are asked to support fundraising efforts both personally and within their networks.

 

 

Indus Community Services is an accredited, non-for-profit community benefit organization that has served local communities for 40 years. The agency is a registered charity supported by its donors and by all three levels of government. Indus, through its professional staff of 140+ personnel, are leaders in providing culturally appropriate services to newcomers, families, women and seniors. Learn more about Indus here

Qualifications

  • Commit to the vision, mission and guiding values of the organization.
  • Participate in the on-going development and implementation of the organization’s strategic plan.
  • Attend monthly Board meetings and the Annual General Meeting.
  • Strong networking and communication skills.
  • Have previous experience leading business or social organizations, and/or serving on a Board.
  • Have a strong understanding of the needs of the communities the organization serves.
  • Integrity and commitment to represent the best interests of the organization.
  • Adhere to the organization’s governance policies, procedures & bylaws.

Time Commitment
This is a Long Term (More than 6 months) commitment
Shifts are available on the following days
 - Thursday Evening

Training



Board Members receive ongoing support from staff and Board leadership, including access to materials through the Board portal and opportunities for mentorship. Training needs are reviewed periodically to ensure Board effectiveness and compliance with best practices.
