Goal

As an Aquatics Volunteer, you'll help deliver safe, inclusive, and engaging swimming programs for community members of all ages. Volunteers assist staff with swimming lessons- children, youth, and senior programs, that will support the drowning prevention needs within Caledon 


Description

  • Support program staff with the setup and takedown of activities and program spaces.
  • Assist with the coordination and delivery of events and program-related activities.
  • Assist with the facilitation and supervision of program activities while serving as a positive role model
  • Promote teamwork, engagement, and a spirit of fairness throughout program activities.
  • Support the creation of a positive and inclusive environment that encourages respectful interaction among participants.
  • Provide guidance and encouragement to participants as they develop and practice new skills.
  • Offer guidance or demonstrations to participants who may require additional assistance.
  • Provide general support to participants during transitions, including water or washroom breaks.
  • Foster a culture of mutual respect among participants, volunteers, and staff.
  • Report any incidents, injuries, or behavioural concerns to the program leader or supervisor.

Qualifications

Interest in community service, recreation, sports, fitness, arts, or public service
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with staff, participants, and community members
• Responsible, dependable, and punctual
• Ability to follow directions and safety guidelines
• Minimum age requirement: 14 years of age

Bronze Cross, Standard First Aid, and CPR-C certification

Training

Aquatics Volunteers will be required to attend a volunteer session before volunteering and participate in a facility orientation
