Goal

Are you passionate about volunteering? Do you thrive on helping others in your community? Do you want to have a voice to help promote the importance and benefits of volunteering? Would you like to see a change in the community?Volunteer MBC, the local volunteer centre serving the Region of Peel (Mississauga, Brampton, Caledon), is looking for high school students who can become an integral part of our team as you will lend your voice to assist us with our mission delivery. The Step Up Youth Volunteer Ambassador program was developed by Volunteer MBC to boost youth volunteerism in the Peel region. Only YOUth can help us change the world by inspiring their peers, putting together amazing events and initiatives, and becoming leaders in their communities. We want YOU to become one of these community leaders!


Description

Duties of the Step Up Youth Volunteer Ambassadors are to; The Three Primary Responsibilities:1) To promote the Volunteer MBC's volunteer referral service among friends and other peers in your school, through social media networks and in-person.2) To to promote youth volunteer engagement at school whether during lunch or at special event days, using promotional materials, information and sign-up booths, and other outreach strategies.3) To support the Executive Team and the functional committees of SUYVA to the success of the youth volunteering events organized to lay a platform for youth to volunteer in their communities. How to accomplish the primary responsibilities?- Promote youth volunteering events and campaigns that are undertaken, participated, or supported by SUYVA through social media networks and in-person. - Coach your peers on how to benefit from the volunteer referral service offered by Volunteer MBC.- Enhance school and community-wide participation by hosting meetings for interested members to discuss areas of interest, opportunities, and event ideas. - Plan and execute volunteering events and initiatives throughout the year. - Assist in the creation of collaborative events. - Create a report of activities during the term of the position tracking the details of meetings and discussion notes, key ideas and opportunities, and details of event planning and outcomes- Attend at least 10 general meetings held by Volunteer MBC- Record your volunteer hours in Volunteer MBC's internal volunteer management system.The SUYVA family is formed up comprising the following tiers.- Tier 1: Executive Team (High level of commitment)- Tier 2: Committee Champions (Medium Commitment)- Tier 3: General Ambassadors (Medium Commitment)

- Each activity that you do on behalf of SUYVA after being recruited to the volunteer position is awarded volunteer hours.- You have the opportunity to be trained in the Youth LEaD training program for your personal development.- Be a prominent youth leader in the community.- When you grow with the team you are able to apply for the Executive Team positions as given below;SUYVA functions with the supported by 4 Committees lead by Vice Chairs, and a Chair Person who leads the entire SUYVA group. The 4 committees are;- Learning and Development- Marketing and Communications- Volunteer Engagement- Event Management


Qualifications

If you are able to;- maintain the time commitments and be active with at least 90% of the SUYVA General Meetings and activities, - promote the ChangeTheWorld campaign,- promote SUYVA in your schools,...then you are eligible to apply.

Time Commitment
This is a Long Term (More than 6 months) commitment
Shifts are available on the following days
 - Friday Afternoon, Friday Evening

Long Term (more than 6 months) - This opportunity will last the entire academic year.
