Goal

The Peel Children's Aid Society (PCAS) protects children from abuse and neglect and helps parents and caregivers build healthy families with support of our Peel community. Our Volunteer Tutors assist children with school work and overall learning challenges with which they are struggling. Volunteers schedule tutoring sessions with the support of workers and caregivers, and often in collaboration with the teacher for the subject, remedial/practice plans and activities will be implemented to help the child with their learning needs. As COVID-19 restrictions ease, this 'role' will return to in person volunteering. Post-COVID-19, many children genuinely need assistance to be able to regain learning skills, address difficulties, and achieve their true potential. This is why Volunteer Tutors are so important to, plus complement, the mandate of the PCAS.If you are contemplating a career in teaching, especially in the area of 'special education', or in social work, or other aspects of early child education, egaging as a Volunteer Tutor with the PCAS is a great introduction to these career choices.

  • Work one-to-one with a child who is experiencing learning challenges
  • In collaboration with parents, guardians, teachers, etc., recognize such challenges and formulate/deliver tutoring to address these
