Goal

At Regeneration Outreach Community, it's our mission to break the cycle of poverty in Brampton. We do this by providing accessible and thoughtful programs that instill dignity, empowerment, and a renewed sense of hope. Our Essential Care program focuses on the primary needs of everyday life, including a FOOD BANK and MEALS (see MAP, below) nearly every day of the year for our guests, designed to help meet the nutritional needs of those who are homeless and those who are living in extreme poverty within the city of Brampton.This program involves many volunteers who fill a variety of 'roles', all of which are essential for delivery of food to our guests, including our Volunteer Marketplace Helpers.


Description

The Volunteer Marketplace Helper is directly involved in food (and other donation) intake and sorting within our food bank/marketplace. This 'role' operates in shifts (see TIME COMMITMENT, below), and during your shift, COVID-19 health and safety requirements that may be still in place will be followed consistently.

Qualifications

The requirements for this 'role' are straightforward:

  • Minimum Age - 16
  • Oral ENGLISH
  • Ability to follow instructions, plus be organized
  • Moderate physical activity, including standing
  • Pair of closed-toe shoes
  • Adherence to COVID-19 health and safety procedures (if applicable)
  • Proof of Vaccination
  • Committed to your 'shift schedule', punctual, reliable

PLEASE NOTE: A Police Record Check is recommended, but not required, and SCREENING will be 'virtual' (tel/email/online). Check your 'Junk/Spam' email folders and leave space on your voicemail for communications from Regeneration.

This is a Medium Term (4 - 6 months) commitment
Shifts are available on the following days
 - Monday Morning, Monday Afternoon, Tuesday Morning, Tuesday Afternoon, Wednesday Morning, Wednesday Afternoon, Wednesday Evening, Thursday Morning, Thursday Afternoon, Friday Morning, Friday Afternoon, Saturday Morning, Saturday Afternoon

PLEASE NOTE: Mondays are a preparation day, with the shift running from 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM
> Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays:
Morning Shift: 8:30 AM - 12:30 PM / 
Afternoon Shift: 12:30 PM - 4:30 PM
> Wednesdays:
Morning Shift: 8:30 AM - 12:30 PM / 
Afternoon Shift: 12:30 PM - 4:30 PM / Evening Shift: 3:00 PM - 7:00 PM
> Saturdays: 
Morning Shift: 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM / Afternoon Shift: 12:00 PM - 4:00 PM

Volunteers use a check-in system in order to select specific shifts for the week ahead.


Training

During your first shift, you will be given a TRAINING as you go.

ORIENTATIONS are scheduled every 2 weeks. Attending one of these orientations is mandatory in order to start volunteering with Regeneration
