About the Position
Position:
2575 - Tea Time Volunteer
Organization:
Position Address:
155 Forum Drive, Mississauga, ON, Canada
Location:
Mississauga

Goal

In 1991, MICBA (Mississauga Italian Canadian Benevolent Association) welcomed 'Forum Italia', comprised of 2 non-profit buildings that provide housing for seniors, singles and families in our community. In addition to the housing, MICBA also welcomed a not-profit child care centre and a long term care home called Villa Forum. One of those two residences is a 60-unit senior's residence that offers supportive housing, recreational, and social programs to enrich the lives of seniors - that's where you fit in! Join in and help us continue unique recreational programming! Our 'Tea Time Volunteers' fill a very important role at Forum Italia through their food service and socialization of resident seniors, their families and friends. It is important to us to make every effort to reduce feelings of isolation among older adults, and a light snack and a beverage promotes interaction and inclusive, thereby promoting a healthy atmosphere for all.

Description

The role is typical of a kitchen-based service in a small restaurant, with tea/coffee (Espresso)/snack prep, serving the residents in attendance, then tidying up. The volunteer is expected to interact with the seniors in the process, encouraging general conversation. Safe food and kitchen practices are also integral to this role (eg. proper storage, preparation, sanitation, etc.) PLEASE APPLY AT THE EARLIEST OPPORTUNITY. Easily access the MICA volunteer application form by creating a volunteer profile with Volunteer MBC, then click the yellow box 'Apply Now!', below.
