Goal

Bethell Hospice Foundation is currently seeking dedicated, qualified community-minded individuals to serve on our volunteer Board of Directors. Bethell Hospice Foundation is a registered charity and undertakes to raise funds in support of Bethell Hospice, which is the only residential hospice serving Caledon, Dufferin County, and Brampton. Bethell provides community and residential hospice care to people diagnosed with a life-challenging illness. We believe that hospice care is as much about living, as it is about dying. Living with dignity and the best quality of life form the foundation of our care. Our skilled professional staff and trained volunteers walk alongside those who are facing life-challenging illness, supporting them, their families and friends.


Description

We are in need of community-minded individuals, who:

  • Work and/or live in our major catchment areas of Caledon, Dufferin County or Brampton
  • Have previous board experience with charitable, not-for-profit organizations, service clubs, etc.
  • Have lead, volunteered at or have been involved with fundraising initiatives
  • Are comfortable approaching others for their support

Qualifications

  • Minimum Age - 18
  • You reside or work in Caledon, Dufferin County, or Brampton
  • Your community serice includes previous board experience with charitable, not-for-profit organizations, service clubs, etc.
  • Able and committed to serve on our Board for a term of 3 YEARS (see TIME COMMITMENT, below)
  • Ontario Driver's Licence
  • Proof of Vaccination

    IN PARTICULAR, ideal candidates will have lead, volunteered at. or have been involved with, fundraising initiatives, and you are comfortable approaching others for their support, plus you will bring to our Board expertise and experience in one or more of the following:
  • Business Management 
  • Community Engagement
  • Finance/ Accounting
  • Human Resources
  • Legal

Time Commitment
This is a Long Term (More than 6 months) commitment
Shifts are available Anytime

FLEXIBLE, subject to monthly meetings: Board members will be asked to attend a monthly Board Meeting, typically held on the last Wednesday of the month between 5:30pm and 7:30pm. Board Members are also asked to sit on a minimum of one Board committee, including but not limited to: Finance, Governance, Investment as well as a series of special event committees. These meeting dates/times are typically scheduled around the committee members schedules at a mutually agreed upon time in the day or evening.   


Training

Bethell Hospice Foundation Board Members will be provided with orientation resources, one-on-one time with fellow Board Directors and the Executive Director of the Foundation, as well as attend a volunteer training session. Ongoing sessions are provided throughout the year in the area of fundraising, governance and topics of interest.
