Bethell Hospice is seeking dedicated, qualified community minded individuals to serve on our Board of Directors.  Bethell Hospice is a not-for-profit agency that provides community and residential hospice care to people diagnosed with a life-limiting illness.  Previous Board experience is not necessary. Our skilled, professional staff and trained volunteers walk alongside those who are facing life-challenging illness; supporting them, their families and friends.  This is an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of many when you bring your skills; commitment and abilities to the Hospice.

We are particularly seeking individuals with leadership experience and knowledge in one or more of the following areas:

  • Health/Social Services
  • Financial reporting and budgeting
  • Human Resources
  • Stakeholder Engagement


Board of Directors responsibilities include:

  • Participate in development of the strategic direction for the organization
  • Monitor the organization’s performance to achieve the vision and mission of Bethell Hospice
  • Assess financial viability and sustainability of the organization and participate in the approval of the budget
  • Prepare for and attend monthly Board meetings and participate or lead on at least one standing committee of the Board (Executive, Finance or Governance), participate in an annual, full day strategic session
  • Prepare/review necessary policy and by-law amendments
  • Collaborate with Bethell Hospice Foundation’s Board to assist in raising funds for the organization
  • Actively contribute to the functioning of the Board

  • Minimum Age - 18
  • You have experience/expertise in one or more of the areas identified in GOAL (above)
  • Passionately support the Vision/Mission of Bethell Hospice
  • Volunteer and/or community leadership experience is helpful
  • Able to commit to Board membership for a period of 3 YEARS
  • Committed to diversity, equity and inclusion in your community
  • Prepared and ready to be an active participant on the Bethell Board (see DESCRIPTION, above)
  • Police Check and Proof of Vaccination required

Time Commitment
This is a Long Term (More than 6 months) commitment starting 2022-09-01
Shifts are available on the following days
 - Tuesday Evening

MONTHLY MEETINGS: At this time, the Board meets every month for an evening and there is an annual planning meeting.  The Board may also participate in fundraising events but that is not mandatory.
Overall: 5 to 10 hours per month.
Length of volunteer service requested for Board membership is 3 YEARS
Location: 15835 McLaughlin Road, Inglewood (see MAP, below)


ORIENTATION will be provided to preferred candidates as part of the screening process.
