Goal

Ornaments of Grace and Virtue is a not-for-profit, charitable community service organization. It is an organization that is passionate about nurturing, mentoring and empowering girls to become, and remain independent, responsible and productive young women in society. Through nurturing and mentoring a girl can become independent, responsible and valuable people that affect society in a positive way. OGAV was founded and registered with the Canadian government in 2014 as an International organization (charity) with the mission to develop independent, responsible, young girls through character building, mentorship, and acquisition of Knowledge, skills and ethics needed to thrive in the 21st century global economy. Ornaments of Grace and Virtue is not affiliated with any religious denomination.

OGAV desires to assert its brand in the western GTA, particularly in Peel region, thereby raising and enhancing its presence, relevance, and value, and ultimately support and outreach, in the community. To accomplish this, we seek a keen, knowledgeable volunteer to assist us with social media initiatives and management. The ideal candidate(s) will collaborate with us to place our brand, purpose, message, and programs squarely in the public eye. This role is yours to define and fill. 


Description

  • The role involves putting in place, and managing, social media on many familiar platforms
  • You will review existing practices with a view to improvement - Part of this review will involve planning such improvements and providing for management and ongoing quality assurance
  • Website development and management (visuals, organization, content) through WordPress. Tech Savvy
  • Have knowledge and proficiency of Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn MailChimp, Zoom, Instagram, Website, and Tiktok and other platforms as needed
  • Much of your engagement will be virtual with periodic meetings/strategy sessions that,  can also be virtual
  • Be willing to take on a leadership role to manage the existing social media team and coordinate with other team leads.
  • Responsible for outreach initiatives including facilitating and keeping contact with possible and pre-existing community connections.
  • Team player - willing to work collaboratively in several initiatives and with other team members by taking on the technological lead.
  • Brainstorming and executing promotional campaigns and advertising to increase OGAV's presence in the community.
  • Closely coordinate with OGAV board members.

Qualifications

  • You are passionate about the prospect of high-caliber social media supporting the community service sector
  • Ready, willing, and able to learn about and understand the vision/mission/objectives of OGAV
  • Available to engage as a valuable volunteer well beyond 6 MONTHS (to establish/promote continuity)
  • Your talents and training include sophisticated prior involvement in coordination of social media (incl. website management; Facebook; Instagram; Twitter; LinkedIn, etc.)
  • You possess excellent English communication skills (proficiency in graphic arts, eg. commonly used software, is a bonus)
  • You are committed to collaborating with OGAV in development/implementation/improvement of our brand through social media (in cooperation with complementary publicity undertakings)
  • Being a self-starter, you take the initiative, are organized and project-oriented, and you respect deadlines (for program publicity, fundraising campaigns, events, etc.)
  • Open to guidance as an opportunity for self-growth 
  • Comfortable asking questions and seeking information
  • Presence at OGAV events/community outreaches (photos, videos, interviews) to obtain material for inclusion on social media, etc.

Time Commitment
This is a Long Term (More than 6 months) commitment starting 2024-10-18 AND ending 2025-04-30

FLEXIBLE: The nature of this role provides for virtual volunteering, in addition to periodic meetings with staff to plan and evaluate all 'social media undertakings. Expectations as to the MINIMUM NUMBER of volunteer hours will be determined during the screening process, although monthly averages will vary. Preparation for and attendance at fundraising events and other community outreach.


Training

A thorough orientation to OGAV will be provided, with a focus relating to social media to be included in that session. Entirely VIRTUAL. There is a training period of  about two months working alongside the present social media coordinator.
