Goal

The Caledon Parent-Child Centre (CPCC) is a non-profit community service organization that provides support, resources and education that strengthen families and promote the optimal development of children. The Centre serves families and caregivers with young children, primarily from birth to six years of age. The CPCC has been serving Caledon and the surrounding area since 1987 with a base location in Bolton. A mobile unit and rented space provide programs and services to families in six other locations throughout Caledon. Since the beginning, volunteers have been at the heart of the community programs and services that CPCC continues to offer.The 'Family Time' Drop-in Volunteer, will assist staff with the operation of an informal Drop-In, part of our Children's Early Learning initiative, where children and adults enjoy an unstructured playtime.


Description

● Welcome parents, child care providers, and children to the CPCC/OEYC● Supervise the playroom and creative room to ensure children are safe and being supervised by an adult ● Assist with general set-up and clean up (incl. prep of crafts, games, etc., plus administrative tasks)● Provide information, support, and resources ● Assist with electronic adult/child registration and attendance● Interact as a positive role model with children● Assist staff with other duties as may arise ● Maintain confidentiality, while refraining from giving advice or counsel

Qualifications

● Friendly, playful, and patient with very young children (Birth to 6 years of age)● Solid oral communication and listening skills● Successful screening, including 3 references (and satisfactory 'Police Vulnerable Sector Check')● Moderate physical demands (some lifting may be required)

This is a Long Term (More than 6 months) commitment starting 2019-07-02
Shifts are available on the following days
 - Monday Morning, Monday Afternoon, Tuesday Morning, Tuesday Afternoon, Wednesday Morning, Wednesday Afternoon, Thursday Morning, Thursday Afternoon, Thursday Evening, Friday Morning, Saturday Morning, Saturday Afternoon

Long Term Commitment (more than 6 months) Mon to Fri and Sat mornings/afternoons - schedule to be mutually arranged


Training

Orientation - General orientation to CPCC/OEYC will be provided
Training-on-the-job
Training on-going - Daily instructions and task assignments reviewed by Staff at daily Team Meetings
