Goal

Association for Bright Children (ABC) is a volunteer run organization with a strong presence in Peel. As such, volunteers are integral to ABC operations. Services could not be delivered, locally or provincially, without committed and active volunteers. Dedicated ABC volunteers have spent over 4 decades ensuring that the needs of bright and gifted learners are not forgotten. If you believe in supporting educational excellence, then volunteering with ABC is a great way to demonstrate your support. The 'Event/Program Coordinator':- Plans events for parents and/or children.- Creates an on going program(s) for children and youth.- Plans events to take place in Mississauga and/or Brampton


Description

● Organize 3 events per year for parents● Organize 3, 6, (or more) events per year for children and youth ● Provide, in the role of program coordinator, leadership and administrative responsibility for the work of volunteers● Report to the executive

Qualifications

● Able to relate comfortably to children/youth of all ages● Police Check required● Demonstrate flexibility, dependability, initiative, and a positive and enthusiastic attitude● Prior experience in event planning/coordination would be helpful (not required)● A self-starter with an ability to work independently, as well as within an a team. ● A capacity to build and nurture working relationships with volunteers and agencies.● Above-average oral and written communication skills including report writing ● Excellent organizational abilities● Well-developed computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft applications

Time Commitment
This is a Medium Term (4 - 6 months) commitment starting 2018-10-01 AND ending 2019-07-31
Shifts are available on the following days
 - Tuesday Evening, Thursday Evening, Saturday Morning, Saturday Afternoon, Sunday Afternoon

Minimum:1 youth event/yr. 3 parent events/yr.


Training

A self-starter with an ability to work independently, as well as within an a team.
