Goal

As a 'Kitchen Volunteer', you will acquire skills training in cafe operations, event organization, and customer service. Mentorship and training will enable you to learn, engage, build strong relationships with the community, and prepare for employment.'Studio.89' is a social enterprise project of 'Youth Troopers for Global Awareness' (YTGA), a youth-led not-for-profit organization that mobilizes and empowers young people for social justice through the arts. Born in 2006 in Mississauga, Ontario, YTGA was founded by a group of very passionate students determined to bring about awareness of global and local issues through creative writing, visual art, theatre, and spoken word. We aim to be accessible and inclusive to all youth, all over the world!Revenue from our CAFE supports our community programming and other initiatives.


Description

Want to build your resume and learn relevant skills relating to customer service and cafe management, while striving to learn more about social justice? Well, Studio.89 has got you covered! As a 'Kitchen Volunteer', you will learn a variety of useful skills! You will be able to build rapport with customers, learn about the intricacies of not-for-profit organizations, do meal prep on all our vegan food, plus learn how to make a whole bunch of drinks such as cappuccinos, lattes, and mochas as a barista! Along with safe, healthy food and beverage prep, you'll also learn how to efficiently tidy up, keep kitchen and other work spaces clean and safe, and work the 'point of sale' system within a typical cafe operation. You ALSO will have access to FREE social justice related events, as well as to the open mics and critical conversations that Studio.89 hosts!PLEASE APPLY (volunteering 'positions' available immediately).
