Goal

'Abbey Cat Adoptions' is a not-for-profit organization that specializes in rescue of and caring for pregnant queens and momma cats with kittens. We are looking for foster parents who have the space, time, and love to be able to care for these special ones. As a cat rescue group, foster parents are the backbone of our organization! We do not have a shelter location, so we rely entirely on a network of foster parents to allow us to rescue cats.

Description

● Foster parents welcome kittens, pregnant queens, mothers and kittens, or occasionally adult cats into their homes for their duration of time in rescue. ● Foster parents provide all of the love and care to these cats until the time of their adoption. ● Duties of the foster parent include: - adherence to an appropriate feeding schedule- introduction to the 'litter box' and maintenance- socialization of kittens (and cats) - writing bios of kittens (cats): their personalities, and how they interact with other felines and people- taking photos- communicating any concerns to a member of the Abbey Cats Foster Support Team- administering oral medication (as needed) *** Once an interested adopter has been screened and approved through Abbey Cats, an adoption appointment is arranged that will take place in the foster parent's home. PLEASE APPLY AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, by December 31, 2018 (We really need 'foster parents' NOW!)

Benefits

Being a foster parent is an incredibly rewarding experience, a wonderful opportunity for hands-on time with cats or kittens on a temporary basis.A foster parent will enjoy the enormous personal satisfaction that comes with playing a vital role in the rescue of a cat and the adoption process.

Qualifications

● Experience is always an asset - we are constantly looking for foster parents who have experience bottle feeding, with pregnant cats, and raising young kittens.● Foster parents interested in fostering young kittens (orphans, or recently weaned) need to be home every 4 hours for feedings.● You'll need basic cat/kitten start up supplies - including bedding/blankets, toys, a scratching post, litter boxes, etc.● Abbey Cats offers a food program for foster parents who need it, while some foster parents choose to supply food themselves. Abbey Cats covers all vet bills for cats in our care.● Having a valid driver's license and a car is considered an asset for taking cats to vet appointments, but volunteer drivers can be provided as needed. PLEASE NOTE: If you have cats of your own, you should have a big enough space that you can separate a new foster.
