Goal

Associated Youth Services of Peel (AYSP) is a dynamic team of optimistic and compassionate professionals and volunteers dedicated to helping children, youth, and families manage mental health and/or justice issues in order to realize their potential and encourage their positive and lasting contributions to our communities. As listed in the Position Description, AYSP's children, youth, and family-integrated programs involve a wide variety of volunteering opportunities, with each position designed to assist in areas of genuine need, with a further view to positive growth and development, delivered within an equity-based framework.


Description

AYSP offers a rewarding volunteer program to support children, youth and their families receiving services at AYSP. Some of the opportunities available include:

  • Mentorship Program
  • Tutoring Program
  • Childcare Support
  • Program Co-Facilitator (volunteer support for a staff member in a group setting)
  • One-to-One Facilitator (personal volunteer support for a client in a program)
  • Court Support

VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITIES ARE AVAILABLE IMMEDIATELY.

Qualifications

Before you apply to volunteer at AYSP, please make sure you meet the GENERAL REQUIREMENTS of our programs.

Volunteer applicants must be:

  • Minimum 19 years old
  • Able to commit to the Volunteer Program for a MINIMUM of 1 YEAR
  • Able to undergo a Criminal Records Check and Other Reference Checks
  • Able to participate in a volunteer training program
  • Able to maintain confidentiality when interacting with our clients, plus preserve their privacy at all times

Time Commitment
This is a Long Term (More than 6 months) commitment
Shifts are available Anytime

Volunteers are required to be flexible in order to meet AYSP needs. Evenings are required. Some weekends may be required.


Training

The Volunteer Training and Orientation is 5 weeks in total. You must attend ONE scheduled evening per week for 5 consecutive weeks. Attendance for ALL 5 SESSIONS (evenings) is mandatory.
