Goal

Caledon Special Olympics has entered into an arrangement with Mud Hero to offer volunteer support for its 'Toronto North' event (August 24, 25, 2019, in Caledon). This local chapter of the Special Olympics will benefit from part of the proceeds raised at 'Toronto North', and those funds in turn will benefit directly the athletes, projects, and events of the Special Olympics in Caledon. The 'Mud Hero Course Marshal' plays a key role in helping that the course and the participant runners remain safe throughout the weekend, as runners challenge its many obstacles and discomforts, plus marshals will provide welcome encouragement in those tough moments so that everyone keeps going. This role combines being watchful, responsible, encouraging, and at times (likely) hands on.

Description

+ You will make sure the 'Mud Heroes' stay on course and stay safe. As a course marshal, you will be tasked with making sure things go smoothly out on the course. ++ Example: If someone takes a spill, you'll be there to make sure they're OK, and if needed you will radio one of our First Aid personnel for a little TLC, etc. +++ You'll also be in charge of keeping the runners motivated, using all those 'customer service' and 'promotional' skills at your command.++++ Since you'll be out on course all day, you'll may be standing a lot AND you could get muddy, too, all in support of Caledon Special Olympics.PLEASE APPLY IMMEDIATELY (Event dates are CLOSE: August 24 (Sat), 25 (Sun), 2019) *** WHEN YOU APPLY THROUGH 'Eventbrite' by clicking on 'Apply Now!' (yellow box) below, please indicate at the end of the online REGISTRATION process that you are a 'Caledon Special Olympics' VOLUNTEER (you will be asked whether you are). Thank you.
