Goal

Our 'Visiting Library Service Volunteer' role has been developed for the purpose of bringing library materials to members of our community who have difficulty visiting a library branch. You deliver/pick up the books, etc., provide the warm smile and generous spirit, and we will provide the rest.


Description

Our volunteers in this role will transport library materials (books, audio books, recordings, etc.) to and from addresses of library card-holders who are unable conveniently to come to a Caledon library branch.

Qualifications

Responsibilities:● The volunteer will make arrangements to pick up and deliver materials to users of the visiting library service● They will return to the library those library materials that the visiting library card-holder has finished with● The volunteer will work with visiting library service staff as a team in meeting the needs of the visiting library service card-holder● The volunteer will report concerns, needs, issues, or incidents to the visiting library services coordinator● The volunteer will be required to complete legislative training, eg. WHMIS prior to commencement of the volunteering engagement● The volunteer will respect the library card-holder's confidentiality (ie. use of the service, address, etc.)*** A 'Police Check (vulnerable sector)' is required for this roleVolunteers should have access to a reliable motor vehicle (with valid auto insurance), hold a valid 'G' driver's licence, and possess a good driving record

Flexible, with a minimum of 1-2 hours every 4 weeks


Training

General orientation about the Caledon Public Library system, plus applicable health and safety training as required by the Province of Ontario
