Goal

To provide strategic direction and stewardship for the sustainability of 'Community Door's Finance and Audit Committee. Committee members are responsible for analyzing and putting forward recommendations to the Board on financial issues or task force actions, and are instrumental in developing Finance and Audit committee annual work plans, plus monitoring progress as measured against the plans.


Description

Community Door Services Network (Community Door) is a not-for-profit, collaborative organization that provides common space and resources to health, social and community service organizations for the purpose of better serving the residents of Mississauga and Brampton. There are 2 centrally located, easily accessible locations. We are guided by 4 values: Collaboration, Caring, Compassion, and Competence. Further information is available at www.communitydoor.ca (active 'link' at Social Media, below)The role embraces the following commitments and responsibilities:● Regularly attend Finance and Audit committee meetings and important related meetings● Sustained commitment to participate actively in committee work● Volunteer for, and accept, assignments and complete them thoroughly and on time● Stay informed about committee matters, plus review and comment on minutes and reports● Proactively get to know other committee members and build a collegial working relationship that promotes cooperation ● Actively participate in the committee's annual evaluation and planning effortsWE WELCOME VOLUNTEERS TO APPLY AT YOUR EARLIEST OPPORTUNITY (and by NO LATER than April 30, 2019, as we hope to have a volunteer(s) in place by the beginning of April). Qualifications

● Financially literate: able to read and understand a set of financial statements that present a breadth and level of complexity of accounting issues that are generally comparable to the breadth and level of complexity of the issues raised by the corporation's financial statements● Knowledge of the communities that Community Door serves (Mississauga, Brampton, and Caledon)● Strong leadership and oral/written communication skills● Proficient in computer skills as these are applicable to a business environment● Familiar with, and conversant in, general accounting principles/practices, preferably as these apply to not-for-profit (charitable) organizations ● Previous volunteer or Board experience with a not-for-profit (charitable) organization is an asset

Time Commitment
This is a Long Term (More than 6 months) commitment starting 2019-04-01
Shifts are available on the following days
 - Tuesday Morning, Wednesday Morning

Committee Meetings: MONTHLY in person, at our Brampton location(currently the second Tuesday OR Wednesday of the month at 8:00 AM, for 2 hours, plus up to 2 hours of preparation time)


Training

Orientation about Community Door will be provided with focus on the committee role.
