Goal

The Canadian Red Cross Society, a non-profit, humanitarian organization dedicated to helping Canadians, as well as the most vulnerable throughout the world, is seeking an Administrative Assistant for the Health TAPESTRY program. Reporting to the Coordinator for Health TAPESTRY, the administrative assistant has a key role in supporting the Coordinator in communicating with clients and volunteers, providing program information, scheduling, and other administrative support.


Description

Key Responsibilities:● Execute general office duties such as: telephoning, faxing, photocopying, filing and scheduling● Respond to volunteer recruitment inquiries (e.g. application forms, program info)● Telephone clients enrolled in program regarding eligibility, program information, and schedule availability● Schedule client visits based on volunteer and client availability● Maintains up to date knowledge of Health TAPESTRY program and services, plus acting as a resource for clients and volunteers● Provides administrative support to staff● Performs other duties as requested

Qualifications

● Understanding of and commitment to the Fundamental Principles of the Red Cross Movement ● Reflect and apply the core competencies of the CRCS: team excellence, service excellence, accountability and results focused● Enrollment or completion of post-secondary certificate/degree and/or work experience in administration or an equivalent combination of education and experience● Previous experience in administration an asset● Technical skills: At a minimum, intermediate knowledge of computers and relevant software applications (including Microsoft Office Suite, and Internet platforms), with ability to learn new computer programs and databases● Attention to detail: Accuracy in completing tasks, presenting information, data entry, and performing necessary office procedures as required● Excellent oral/written English● Additional communication skills: Verbal and non-verbal communication, active listening, able to clearly explain self● Customer Service skills: Handle phone calls inquiries in a professional manner; provide comfort, care, and patience to a variety of clients and volunteers; committed to diversity and inclusiveness● Ability to work well within a team (ie. share information, be respectful, approachable, and effectively collaborate with fellow volunteers, staff, and supervisors)● Responsible, dependable: Self starter, ability to take initiative and complete tasks without being asked or with little supervision● Good organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills

This is a Long Term (More than 6 months) commitment
Shifts are available on the following days
 - Monday Morning, Monday Afternoon, Tuesday Morning, Tuesday Afternoon, Wednesday Morning, Wednesday Afternoon, Thursday Morning, Thursday Afternoon, Friday Morning, Friday Afternoon

Working Conditions:- Minimum 1 shift per week (shifts are one-half days), 2 shifts preferred, however we encourage all interested parties to apply- Minimum commitment of 6 months, longer preferred- Office environment, although remote working from home also available, when appropriateThis position requires a successful 'Police Record Check' check. The Canadian Red Cross Society adheres to the 'Canadian Code of Volunteer Involvement'.
