Goal

Mississauga Community Legal Services (MCLS) assists moderate and low income residents living in Mississauga. The clinic is a non-profit corporation staffed by lawyers, paralegals, social workers, and administrative staff and directed by a volunteer Board of Directors, whose membership is representative of the community.Our mandate is to provide free legal information, advice and representation to residents of Mississauga in areas of law such as housing, employment and income assistance. We are committed to embracing accessibility, diversity and equal opportunity.MCLS seeks thoughtful leadership for its Board of Directors, Members who will help guide the policy decisions of the organization. Description

Qualifications

● Preferred candidates will have knowledge, skills and experience in areas such as:- communications (including social media and outreach)- public relations- community development- human resources- finance● Past volunteer leadership experience is an asset● Commitment to 'diversity and inclusiveness'● Understanding/endorsement of the MCLS mandate, plus prepared to advocate for justice, access to the legal system, poverty reduction, and social wellfare

Time Commitment
This is a Any Duration commitment
Shifts are available on the following days
 - Monday Evening

Monthly meetings (typically Monday evening) with possibly some committee work.


Training

Applicants will be screened by the Recruitment committee and contacted, should they meet the requirements for Board membership.
