GoalIn 1991, MICBA (Mississauga Italian Canadian Benevolent Association) welcomed 'Forum Italia', comprised of 2 non-profit buildings that provide housing for seniors, singles and families in our community. In addition to the housing, MICBA also welcomed a not-profit child care centre and a long term care home called Villa Forum. One of those two residences is a 60-unit senior's residence that offers supportive housing, recreational, and social programs to enrich the lives of seniors - that's where you fit in! Join in and help us continue unique recreational programming!We have a continuing need of volunteers who can lead our residents and their guests in a wide variety of recreational activities (see 'Position Description', above). Games, hobbies, and other recreational activities are a very important part of our commitment to keep our residents active, social, and happy. If you enjoy working with seniors and have a few hours to spare each month, Villa Forum WANTS YOU!!! |

DescriptionAmong the recreational activities/games at Villa Form', volunteers may lead/join residents in playing:- Arts & Crafts- Briscola or Scopa (Italian card games)- Tombola (Italian Bingo - Calling or assisting players 'on the floor')- Mahjong (Chinese game played with 144 tiles by 4 players)- Morning Crossword- Meal Programs- Movie Nights- Zumba for SeniorsALL ACTIVITIES originate with, and are under the direction of, the Recreation/Volunteer Coordinator.PLEASE APPLY AT THE EARLIEST OPPORTUNITY. Qualifications● Minimum age - 14, unless otherwise indicated below● We request a 60 HOUR MINIMUM overall commitment from our volunteers● Fluency in Italian is PREFERRED (our principal goal for our residents is to have them 'socialize'), and for 'Mahjong', fluency in Mandarin/Cantonese is also welcome● Friendly, engaging, committed to socializing with seniors● Prior experience in playing the game (or with the leisure activity) that interests you is PREFERRED (see 'Position Description', above)● If you are interested in Zumba, you must be a licensed Zumba instructor, AT LEAST 18 YEARS OLD, and you must have valid CPR/First Aid certification Police Check: Not required Resume:Not required Driver's Licence: Not required Proof of Vaccination: Not required |

Time CommitmentThis is a Long Term (More than 6 months) commitment
Shifts are available Anytime Scheduling appropriate for the activity and the volunteer will be arranged. Applicants should be prepared to be FLEXIBLE in accommodating Villa Forum's weekly schedule. |
