Goal

Celebrating 100 years in 2018, the CNIB Foundation is a high profile. non-profit organization driven to change what it is to be blind today. We deliver innovative programs and powerful advocacy that empower people impacted by blindness to live their dreams and tear down barriers to inclusion. Our work as a blind foundation is powered by a network of volunteers, donors and partners from coast to coast to coast. The role of 'Accessible Technology Coach' is designed to provide community-based support: volunteers will provide one-on-one coaching and support to clients, educating them about various technologies.


Description

> You will provide one-to-one coaching and support to clients who use accessible technology like smart phones, smart home devices, video magnifiers, etc. (you will receive training on new technology available for those with vision loss)> You will demonstrate new technology to clients> You will ssemble resources to help clients further explore their devices' capabilities at home> You will research and create accessible documents needed for group sessions (these documents also function as resources for other clients and future sessions)PLEASE APPLY at the earliest opportunity (and by no later than March 20, 2020). Qualifications

● Excellent communication skills● Keen interest in technology, and in particular, familiar with smart devices in the iOS and Android systems● Prepared and able to commit to the role for AT LEAST 6 MONTHS (see 'Time Detail', below)● Comfortable with teaching program participants one-on-one● Patient, empathetic, and friendly● Committed to abide by the CNIB's 'Volunteer Code of Conduct'● Available to attend Orientation & Training (incl. About CNIB, About the people we help, About vision loss, and About volunteering at CNIB)*** Satisfactory 'Police Vulnerable Sector Check' required

Time Commitment
This is a Long Term (More than 6 months) commitment
Shifts are available on the following days
 - Monday Morning, Monday Afternoon, Tuesday Morning, Tuesday Afternoon, Wednesday Morning, Wednesday Afternoon, Thursday Morning, Thursday Afternoon, Friday Morning, Friday Afternoon

WEEKDAYS (Monday to Friday)1 or 2 sessions per week (each session may last up to 3 hours)
