Our mission is to build resilient and healthy communities by offering client-centered, anti-oppressive programs and services. Health Services at Indus has extensive experience offering culturally and linguistically appropriate services to seniors. The role of the Friendly Visiting Volunteer is ideal for someone that has a passion for/knowledge of geriatrics and wants to make a vital difference in the lives of senior residents in the Region of Peel. |

DescriptionThe Friendly Visiting program aims to alleviate much of the social isolation & loneliness experienced by older adults by matching volunteers with physically and/or congitively impaired seniors in mutually fulfilling relationships. As a volunteer, you will be partnered with a client whom you will visit in their home, hospital, or assisted living setting on a weekly basis. It will be your job to provide social support, companionship, and engage the client in emotionally meaningful and cognitively stimulating activities. Based on preferences, you may be paired with clients with Alzheimer's, Dementia, and/or other mental health concerns. As a Friendly Visiting Volunteer, you may provide these critical services by:

QualificationsSkills and Qualifications:

Time CommitmentThis is a Medium Term (4 - 6 months) commitment
Shifts are available Anytime Due to the nature of the role, a minimum commitment of 4 months is required (preferrably more), with a typical time requirement of 1 hour per week. Client visits take place at a mutually agreed upon time and day, anytime from Monday through Sunday between 9am and 7pm. |
