Goal

Caledon Meals on Wheels (CMOW) believes in and continues to build and sustain a community where individuals can enjoy healthy, independent and connected living at any age. Priincipally, we deliver meals (fresh/frozen/groceries) to residents 65 and older (living in Caledon, Bolton, Orangeville) who cannot independently provide for themselves due to disability or infirmity. CMOW also provides support through other programs intended to promote health and wellness. Our motto: 'Live Your Life!'Deliveries are made possible with the invaluable assistance of local, energetic volunteers. Join a dedicated team of over 200 volunteers, who have recognized that the COVID-19 Pandemic makes their involvement and contributions even more important than ever!


Description

[ During COVID-19, applications are being processed, so don't hesitate to APPLY! ]

Deliver hot meals to residents in your community. Volunteer drivers pick up hot meals at 1 of 3 locations closest to them and deliver the meals to clients within a specified area. Route sheets and maps are provided with any special instructions. Drivers also provide a security check for clients, ensuring that clients are safe and volunteers follow up with CMOW staff if they have any concerns.

You are invited to apply through the CMOW website (see Social Media, below), or through Volunteer MBC, as a client with a 'profile' within its Referral System. Clients can click the yellow box 'Apply Now!' and gain immediate access to the CMOW volunteer application formAfter you apply, as a precaution, please monitor your 'Junk/Spam' email folders and leave space on your voicemail for communications from CMOW.

Qualifications

  • Valid full Class 'G' Ontario Driver's Licence
  • Access to a reliable, clean motor vehicle that is covered by auto insurance as required by the Province of Ontario
  • A volunteer engagement of AT LEAST 6 MONTHS is preferred
  • Ability to perform moderately physical tasks (lifting, carrying, mounting steps, etc.)
  • Strict adherence to COVID-19 safety protocols (including wears masks, etc., contactless delivery)
  • Punctual, reliable, capable of abiding by an agreed schedule
  • Friendly, engaging, ready to volunteer as part of a team and independently
  • Police Vulnerable Sector Check is mandatory
  • Proof of Vaccination

Time Commitment
This is a Long Term (More than 6 months) commitment
Shifts are available on the following days
 - Monday Morning, Wednesday Morning, Friday Morning

WEEKDAYS with meal pick up around NOON: Meals are picked up Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, around 11:30am, at the Albion & Bolton comunity Centre for Bolton and Caledon routes and at Lord Dufferin in Orangeville for Orangeville residents. TRAINING will be scheduled upon acceptance. You will be able to specify which location (Bolton or Orangeville) you wish to delivery to.


Training

Orientation, TRAINING, plus ongoing support. Emphasis on COVID-19 health and safety, including 'contactless delivery'.
