Goal

The Caledon Parent-Child Centre (CPCC) is a non-profit community service organization that provides support, resources and education that strengthen families and promote the optimal development of children. The Centre serves families and caregivers with young children, primarily from birth to six years of age. The CPCC has been serving Caledon and the surrounding area since 1987 with a base location in Bolton. A mobile unit and rented space provide programs and services to families in six other locations throughout Caledon. Since the beginning, volunteers have been at the heart of the community programs and services that CPCC continues to offer.The Program Volunteer, will assist staff with the operation of Registered and/or Drop In programs, part of our Children's Early Learning initiative, where children (alone or with a parent/caregiver) attend structured programs.


Description

To assist staff with the operation and delivery of registered and/or drop in programs (including regular registered/drop in programs, specialty programs such as 'Let's Get Together' and 'Families, Food and Fun') in Bolton or at various mobile village sites throughout Caledon.The volunteering role may include: - Set up, clean up and supervision of playroom, creative room and/or program room- Supervision of children- Assist with attendance and/or registration- Welcome and interact with program participants- Prepare crafts and other administrative tasks

Qualifications

● We prefer a commitment to volunteer in our programs of at least 6 MONTHS● Because young children are involved, a satisfactory 'Police Vulnerable Sector Check' is required● Engaging, confident, and kind with young children● Keen interest to our programs (visit our website) is a definite asset● Respect for diversity and inclusiveness● Some moderate lifting may be involved in carrying out the roleCPCC/OEYC carries out a thorough screening process (including interviews) of applicants, who are asked to provide 3 references.

Individual WEEKLY volunteering schedules will be mutually arranged, bearing mind the weekdays/times noted.In order to promote continuity in this program that focuses upon our students, a long-term, minimum 6 months commitment is required.


Training

Orientation - General orienation to CPCC/OEYC will be providedTraining-on-the-job, plus on-going (incl. daily instructions and task assignments reviewed by staff at daily team meetings)
