Position Title: Hospice In Home Volunteer

Position Description: Duties and Responsibilities:

● Complete a 30 hour training program (missed classes to be made up) and participate in ongoing education opportunities (see 'Training Details', below)
● Commitment to 2 to 4 hours, once a week, for a ONE YEAR period
● Adherence to policies and procedures of the Hospice
● Maintain privacy/confidentiality

When assigned to an individual/family, duties may include:

● Providing support and companionship to the individual who is palliative and/or a family member
● Providing respite (a break) for the caregiver
● Assisting the individual who is palliative with activities of daily living
● Providing care/comfort measures such as complementary therapies - Reiki, TT, aromatherapy (free training for volunteers that are interested in learning)
● Maintain monthly contact with the Hospice office
● Ask for assistance if help or support or additional information is required
● Submit a monthly report

*** ESPECIALLY LOOKING FOR THOSE AVAILABLE DURING THE DAY, MONDAY TO FRIDAY, who are English speaking, as well as volunteers fluent in Polish, Tamil, Cantonese, Mandarin, Tagalog, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Urdu, etc.

Mississauga: Thurs. 6pm to 9pm - April 18, 2019 to June 20, 2019
Etobicoke: Tues. 9:30am to 12:30pm - April 9, 2019 to June 11, 2019
Oakville: Saturdays 9am to 4:30pm - April 6, 2019 to May 11, 2019
Time Commitment: Monday Morning, Monday Afternoon, Monday Evening, Tuesday Morning, Tuesday Afternoon, Tuesday Evening, Wednesday Morning, Wednesday Afternoon, Wednesday Evening, Thursday Morning, Thursday Afternoon, Thursday Evening, Friday Morning, Friday Afternoon, Friday Evening, Saturday Morning, Saturday Afternoon, Saturday Evening, Sunday Morning, Sunday Afternoon, Sunday Evening, Anytime
Duration: Long Term (More than 6 months)
Time Detail: ONE YEAR COMMITMENT is requested. Specific weekly schedules will vary, and we ask for 2 to 4 hours per week.

(The above, in addition to 30 hours of MANDATORY training)
