Position Title: Community Cultivator- Garden Support Volunteers

Position Description: This program requires a commitment for the whole growing season (March to October), and includes:

- Weekly 2-hour sessions tending to an Ecosource community garden from May to October
- Regular training sessions on small-scale sustainable agriculture (4 in all)
- Ongoing onsite evaluations of progress in cultivation/growth of the gardens' plantings (team/individual feedback)
- Community events, including garden potlucks, cooking workshops and a farm trip
- New friends and social connections will be made

The first Orientation and training session will take place at Ecosource on March 27 from 5pm-7pm.

Applications will continue to be accepted until all positions are filled.

Duration: Medium Term (4 - 6 months)

Time Detail: Community Cultivators will be divided into small garden teams assigned to one of our 6 community gardens. We will try to assign garden locations based on where you live.

Cultivators will attend 1 weekly maintenance session at their assigned garden and 1 monthly garden training session with all cultivators together on a monthly basis from May until October.

How to Apply
Accessibility: Community Cultivators will work in our community gardens which are located in City of Mississauga parks and therefore vary greatly in the terrain. Some garden sites are more accessible than others, including a few with wheelchair accessible garden beds. We can assign sites with individual needs taken into consideration.
