Our Volunteer Mentor program helps build and strengthen a child's self esteem and self-confidence. You are carefully 'matched' with a child after meeting with our PCAS worker, to review/assess/discuss the mentoring assignment. The volunteer involves the 'match' in activities that likely with take both into the local community, typically outings and other mutually beneficial and rewarding activities. And central to the 'role', you'll be a 'role model' for your 'match', leading and teaching by personal example, such that the child assigned to you will adopt positive attitudes/behaviours and learn valuable social skills. The volunteer will keep the PCAS informed about the outcomes of the planned activities, changes in program schedule/content, and about any concerns. When you use your motor vehicle for this 'role', you'll be entitled to reimbursement of your 'mileage'.
