About the Position
Dixie Bloor Neighbourhood Centre 3650 Dixie Road, Unit 103, Mississauga, Ontario Mississauga
● Provide leadership by setting the values, vision, and mission of the 'Centre' through strategic planning and development designed to meet community needs
● Follow policies and procedures, with periodic reviews, that govern the 'Centre', reflect its values, and guide its decisions
● Provide oversight to ensure sound financial and risk management (including review and approval of budgets and annual audit reports, adherence to legal and fiduciary obligations)
● As a Director, be a key representative to our stakeholders, sharing a commitment to diversity and inclusiveness within the Board of Directors that in turn reflects and embraces the needs of the residents that we serve

MINIMUM 3 YEAR VOLUNTEERING COMMITMENT
> Use your background/experience to assume a volunteer leadership role in a community service organization of high profile and excellent reputation
>> Contribute in a tangible, meaningful way to community programs, services, and outreach that the 'Centre' provides
>>> Enhance your personal experience (plus make valuable community 'connections') as the result of your membership on the Board
>>>> Gain the enormous satisfaction that comes with service to your community in a key capacity
Board members reflect the ethnic, cultural and demographic characteristics of our neighbourhood and are chosen from the community, local organizations/associations and businesses. Qualifications include a keen interest in serving our community and the ability to contribute skills, advice and time to this commitment:

- The appointment to the Board is for a three year period with a time commitment of approximately three (3) evening hours per month, plus sub-committee work. The Board regularly meets on the 1st Tuesday of each month.
- Each member must be at least 18 years old, annually sign the Criminal Offence Declaration (and undergo a criminal background check), Oath of Confidentiality, the 'Dixie Bloor' Code of Conduct, and Conflict of Interest statement.
- Actively support the mandate and mission of the 'Centre'.
- Prior board experience would be an asset
- Experience in social services, community development, fundraising, legal, accounting, leadership, business/project management, and/or strategic planning would be an asset
- Experience in the public sector (Education, Health, and Police services) would be particularly helpful as a skill support to the Board
