About the Position
Healing Cycle Foundation, The OFFICE: 1470 Hurontario Street, Suite 200, Mississauga, Ontario, AND 'virtual' from the volunteer's residence Mississauga, Brampton, Caledon, Virtual

PLEASE NOTE: While COVID-19 restrictions are in place, this 'role' will be virtual (remote). Once COVID-19 has been resolved, we will return to 'in person' meetings and events.



We are expanding our Board of Directors and we seek volunteers to join our Board as active, dynamic members. We are looking for people who want to apply their career knowledge and positive drive to grow the success of The Healing Cycle Foundation (THCF), and in doing so improve Hospice Palliative care throughout Ontario. Each member of the Board of Directors is responsible for professionally leading The Healing Cycle Foundation in the following 3 areas:



1. Strategic Direction and Good Governance




  • Setting its mission and long-term strategic direction

  • Developing THCF policies and monitoring their on-going compliance

  • Establishing governance structure for ensuring proper business practices are adhered to by all resources working on behalf of the organization

  • Ensuring the financial results of the organization are accurately reported for standard auditing purpose



2. Promotion and Growth




  • Actively promote the benefits of the organization within the member's professional and social networks to build awareness for the need for hospice palliative care funding

  • Participate in the organization's fundraising events and financially contribute to the organization's fundraising efforts

  • Actively prospect for corporate and private partners and encourage them to make donations to the organization



3. Collegial and Positive Spirit




  • Regularly attend all Board Meetings and appropriate sub-committee meetings, respecting the terms of reference established for all Board members

  • Actively build understanding of the needs of the hospice palliative community to ensure informed guidance and counsel re. the organization's direction and initiatives

Who are we looking for?




  • Socially aware individuals, with a positive spirit, wanting to improve hospice palliative care in communities

  • Leadership and marketing experience, when applied to The Healing Cycle Foundation, can positively impact our continued growth and increase financial contributions

  • Individuals with leadership experience in the volunteering sector, past not-for-profit board membership additionally welcome

  • Understanding of community health care services, as these relate to hospice palliative care, is an asset, but willingness to learn about hospice palliative care, is both welcome and essential

  • People who are ready and willing to tap into professional and social networks, in order to bring attention to hospice palliative care

  • Commitment to diversity and inclusiveness in our communities



    Further Formal requirements:

     

  • Minimum age - 18

  • Minimum term on our Board - 2 years

  • Satisfactory 'Police Vulnerable Sector Check' required

  • Firm commitment to active participation in Board activities, meetings, promotion of THCF, fundraising, etc.

  • Reliable access to the Internet and devices/software/apps suitable for this 'role', plus you are comfortable with virtual communication (video calls, meetings, conferencing, etc.)

  • Adherence to THCF policies/procedures/confidentiality requirements

Orientation to THCF is provided to all incoming Board Members, and the 'Terms of Reference' of your 2-year engagement will be fully explained
