About the Position | |
Caledon Parent-Child Centre/EarlyON Centre Albion & Bolton Community Centre, 150 Queen Street South, Bolton, Ontario, Canada Caledon | |
- Participate in setting the directions and policies of the organization to ensure that the needs of Caledon families and children are met - Ensure fiscal responsibility and monitor funding in accordance with the organization's mandate - Play an active role in advising and supporting the Executive Director at Board and Committee meetings - Participate in the development and legal soundness of long-term, strategic plans for the organization - Attend and actively participate in Board meetings (Approximately 10 meetings per annum - fourth Monday of the month. Meetings are held in Bolton.) - Serve on a minimum of one Board Committee and work independently on assigned activities - Advocate on behalf of the CPCC and support fund development projects and activities Essential Duties & Responsibilities - Review policy and contracts and provide recommendations to Executive Director, Finance Committee and Board - Review the organization's financial statements, CRA filings, and insurance - Ensure the organization complies with all legal and regulatory requirements PLEASE APPLY AT THE EARLIEST OPPORTUNITY, and by NO LATER than 4:00 PM, Friday, November 29, 2019. ● Law degree with eligibility to practice law in Ontario, plus minimum of 5 years of legal experience ● At least 2 years of legal experience in business or public service administration ● Able to commit to a 2-year term as a Member of the Board of Directors ● Demonstrated experience in the development and/or review of policies, procedures, practices and processes to limit legal exposure and manage risk ● Prior involvement in a not-for-profit corporate setting preferred ● Commitment to the mandate and purpose of the organization ● Strong oral/written communication skills, combined with problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with commitment to community leadership that advances the mandate and purpose of CPCC ● Excellent interpersonal/'networking' skills ● Team player, with the ability to engage in the 'role' independently ● Police Check will be at the 'vulnerable sector' level Candidates must participate in an interview and the Board member nomination process.
