Position Title: Board Member (Finance)

Position Description: General Duties & Responsibilities
● Participate in setting the directions and policies of the organization to ensure that the needs of Caledon families and children are met
● Ensure fiscal responsibility and monitor funding in accordance with the organization's mandate
● Assume an active role in advising and supporting the Executive Director at Board and Committee meetings
● Participate in the development of long-term plans for the organization
● Attend and actively participate in Board meetings (approximately 10 meetings per annum - usually the 4th Monday of the month. Meetings are held in Bolton)
● Serve on a minimum of one Board Committee and work independently on assigned activities
● Advocate on behalf of the CPCC, plus support fund development projects and activities

Particular Duties & Responsibilities:
● Review financial data and provide recommendations to the Executive Director, Finance Committee, and Board
● Review annual budget for multiple program areas, with recommendations as warranted
● Track and budget data
● Monitor and analyze monthly operating results, measured against budgets of multiple program areas

Goal of Position: The Caledon Parent-Child Centre (a designated Early ON Centre) is a community service charitable organization that provides quality programs for children, parents, and caregivers in Caledon and the surrounding areas. We are a hub, offering an important blend of services that strengthen families and assist them in the critical role of raising young children. Services include child development opportunities, early identification of developmental concerns, referrals to specialized services and supports, and parenting education.

The Caledon Parent-Child Centre is a member of the Canadian Association of Family Resource Programs.

At this time, our Board is in need of an experienced financial professional to become a volunteer member of our Board of Directors, providing expertise to its Finance Committee, while gaining valuable leadership experience in a high profile community services organization (see 'Position Description', above, for details, including application procedure).

Training Details: General orienation to CPCC/OEYC will be provided, as well as Board orientation.

Training on-going, and further training and development opportunities will also be provided.
Position Qualifications: ● MINIMUM of 2 years of financial experience in business or public service administration
● A professional accounting designation (CA, CMA, CGA) is preferred, but not required
● 2 year membership on our Board of Directors
● Strong budgeting ability and experience in tracking grants and other funding sources
● Experience in creating/evaluating financial statements, reports, cash flow analysis, deferred revenue, budgeting, and forecasting
● Strategy planning experience is welcome
● Past involvement in leadership with the not-for-profit/volunteer sector is an asset
● Strong oral/written communication skills, combined with problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with commitment to community leadership that advances the mandate and purpose of CPCC
● Demonstrated 'team player', plus ability to follow through individually
● Satisfactory 'Police Vulnerable Sector Check'
