About the Position

As a valued Member of our Board, you will:




  • Provide leadership by providing oversight in line with the values of Ecosource, and ensure that these are reflected in programs, services, and their delivery

  • As part of the Board, conduct a periodic review the ED's performance in achieving strategic goals

  • Commit to, and LEAD THE BOARD in, developing fundraising strategies, cultivating donor relations, organizing, and promoting special events, and/or approaching individuals, businesses, schools, and service clubs for financial and in-kind support

  • Support implementation of Ecosource’s anti-racism/anti-oppression action plan and contribute to the ongoing identification of actions to promote equity and inclusion within the organization and our work in the community

  • Be involved in planning, prioritizing, and goal setting, to respond creatively to the ongoing challenges of meeting the increased needs of a growing community

  • Ensure that the highest standards of good governance and fiscal responsibility are maintained

  • Be an advocate on behalf of Ecosource within our community at events by speaking to politicians, funders, community audiences, and other stakeholders

  • Applicants resident in Mississauga, with experience in Fundraising, will be preferred


  • You demonstrate an interest in, passion for, and/or sufficient knowledge and experience about environmental and sustainability issues, especially in Mississauga

  • Experience in volunteer leadership 'roles' is an asset

  • Strong communication, inter-personal, and team management skills, plus a 'results-oriented' approach

  • You are committed to 'diversity and inclusiveness' in your community, plus you are aware of anti-racism/anti-oppression initiatives

  • You bring to Ecosource proven Leadership, Integrity, Reliability, and Accountability, with a Firm Commitment to serve the required minimum 2-year term

  • Your professionalism incorporates critical thinking, a high degree of organization, and an appreciation of effective strategic planning/implementation

Nominees to the Board will be invited to observe a few Board meetings and learn more about the organization before any commitment by either party is required. New Board members will be oriented by current Board members, Executive Director, management team, and other organizational resources. In addition, resources are allocated for Board member development throughout the year.
